Owusu’s pre-Mighty Jets interview: Expectations, Injury updates and more

Prince Owusu stressed that his side will try as much as possible to win against Mighty Jets on Wednesday afternoon as they seek to come out of their winless situation.

The Eewo lads have managed to pick just one point in three games in March after losing to Accra City Stars, Danbort FC and sharing the spoils with Nania respectively.

Vision slipped to third on the league table as a result of their poor run of winning form in their last three games and have seen their rivals Heart of Lions and Tema Youth overtake them in the first and second positions respectively.

While the gaffer is seeking for a win, he is very wary of the threat Mighty Jets come with.

Read on for a summary of Prince Owusu’s pre-Mighty Jets interview on Tuesday afternoon…

On his thoughts about the game…

They have a good team, it just that they have a problem with the field they are using. It is a team that they like to possess and play on the turf that’s why we’re seeing them where they are – anytime they go out they win when they get good pitches. So I don’t know if it’s an advantage for them here or a disadvantage for them. But anyway, we are preparing seriously because of the situation we are in – we have been able to win most of our matches and then, suddenly, we lost two games in a row and drew the last game. This one, we’re trying come out of the losing streak – we want to lift ourselves and start winning again. It’s going to be a difficult game, it’s going to be difficult for us and I know it’s going to be difficult for them as well. The two teams are going to try and win so it’s going to be a battle between them tomorrow.

On his expectations from his side against Mighty Jets…

I think that we’ve spoken to them, we’ve worked on our mistakes and I just wish that tomorrow they be themselves to correct the previous mistakes that they did so we can move on. I think if they do exactly what we’ve asked from them we can win the game tomorrow easily.

On injury update…

I think Yahaya [Abdallah] is coming up, I have given myself another more week- I want him to be fit, I don’t want him to be 80% or 90%. I want to see him out there 100% fit. Injuries have caused us a little bit but we have a good side that if anyone is out, the other one can play.

On Maxwell Ansah’s absence in tomorrow’s game…

If you look at reality, he wasn’t one of our starters. He was on the bench when one of our players got injured against Planners a Dansoman, he came in and immediately he scored a goal and he took over the place. He’s been playing all this while and the guy [Samuel Amoako] who got injured at that time is now back in form and he’s been doing very well so if he comes back into it it’s not something new to him. He has been there, he was the man before so we still go back to him and I know he’s going to give us 100% tomorrow.
